Life cycle assessment

The production of rigid polyurethane insulation does require energy. However, the energy thus spent is negligible compared to the energy savings realized thanks to polyurethane insulation. Studies have shown that the amortization of primary energy consumption and CO2 emitted during production takes place during the first year after installation.

Furthermore, polyurethane insulation offers a high durability (more than 50 years). It is expected that, during their service life, polyurethane articles allow savings of at least 50 times and up to more than 100 times the quantity of fossil fuels necessary to produce them.

Additionally, at the end of their service life, polyurethane wastes can be burnt, leading to energy recovery.
