Sustainable Construction

The Sustainable Construction concept aims at the creation and responsible management of a healthy environment based on resource efficient and ecological principles. It takes account of environmental and life quality issues, social equity and cultural issues, and economic constraints.

Polyurethane Insulation helps the home or building owner, architect or specifier construct more sustainable buildings through:

  • significantly reducing energy consumption for heating or cooling, guaranteeing a high level of well being and helping eradicate fuel poverty
  • improving air tightness which helps making the indoor environment healthier through greater control of the interior ventilation
  • using technologies such a sandwich panels with inherent lightweight structural strength contributing to an efficient use of natural resources
  • providing efficient solutions with energy “pay back” times of less than one heating period

The Polyurethane Industry also contributes significantly to economic growth since it is a major employer of people, the vast majority of whom work in SMEs (small and medium size enterprises), and these create a significant amount of value.
